The size is 147 x 195 cm or 4 feet 10 inches x 6 feet 5 inches.
The condition is very good, only on some small plase you can see little wear (see pic.)
At Caucasus they call rugs of this design "Hatai".
Hatai can be reffered to as one of the most complex compositions of Azerbaijan ornament basing on their structure and artistic integrity.
Wide and long "sleeves" (or "branches") heading upward are the main elements of this composition.
Generally "sleeves" are surrounded by singular or coupled toothings varying in their shape.
The "sleeves'"inner part background is filled and decorated with lots of small and larger stylised flowers or leaves.
Those "sleeves" take shapes of zig-zags, toothings or even netting and make the composition especially original and expressive.
The masterpieces of art decorated by Hatai designs are being made by the most talented artists only.
An artist unable of creating a perfect Hatai composition would not be considered a good artist in older times.
One can find in classic Azerbaijan fiction books and especially in poetry authors comparing hair of beloved person with Hatai ornaments considering their wave-like winding lines.
